Cognitive Neuroscience ∩ Altered States ∩ Consciousness ∩ Artificial Intelligence

Psychedelics | Autonomic & Voluntary Breathing | Mental Health | Longevity

As a neuroscience student and semi-professional freediver, I am starting an initiative to enable companies and projects in the domains of neuroscience and mental health. This includes angel investing, advising, and fractional COO/CFO/GC roles.

This initiative is also relevant to AI as many such models are biologically inspired, e.g., neural networks, transformers, flash attention.

While I am familiar with breathing modalities such freediving (certified instructor) and the Wim Hof method (not a certified instructor), I teach a simple, safe, neuroscience backed protocol to help participants gain insight into (and alter) their mental states, based on the research of Krasnow and Feldman on the physiological sigh. Huberman, of the eponymous science podcast, has also done research on the physiological sigh. The above papers are here and here.

I plan to start my MS in cognitive neuroscience at the Graduate Institute of Mind, Brain and Consciousness (Taipei Medical University) Fall 2024.

The New York Times discusses how breathing can be quite psychedlic!

The second video on this page is an old podcast episode of me discussing breath work.
